Method for distinguishing pu leather

Here are some methods for identifying PU leather:

• Smell: PU leather often has a distinctive smell, different from high-quality animal leather. Smell the PU leather to see if it has an undesirable or overly strong smell.

• Flex: Bend the PU leather to see if it will return to its original shape. If the leather does not return to its original shape, it may be a true PU leather. Animal leather, on the other hand, has good elasticity and flexibility and will return to its original shape.

• Burn: Burn a small piece of PU leather on the flame. If the smell resembles that of burning candlewax and there are melted  after the fire is out, it may be a true PU leather.

• Wet Test: Drop a drop of water on the PU leather. If the water does not penetrate the leather, it may be a true PU leather. Animal leather, on the other hand, has good breathability and waterproofness, and the water will not penetrate it.

Keep in mind that these methods do not completely guarantee the authenticity of PU leather. It's best to purchase from a reputable source and check for any certificates or certifications related to the product's authenticity.
